Legacy Trust UK are an independant charity set up to build a lasting cultural and sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic Games. Our project has been selected from a host of applications from regional cultural and sporting bodies and will be delivered at our base in Donaghmore.

We are one of the few Community/Arts organisation in Northern Ireland who have been awarded an Inspire London 2012 mark for the entire programme

Over the next 3 years we will be working with young people to broaden their skills through a range of workshops that build a bridge between arts and sports and other fun filled activities.

It has been given the thumbs up by celebraties including Louis Walsh, rugby star Tommy Bowe, Boyzone singer Shane Lynch and teen favourite Eoghan Quigg.

The link between sport and the arts is strong

As a sports man and performing artist I have always been convinced of the strong linkage between sport and the arts. They both need performance, endurance and dedication in order to deliver. In fact, one of the world's best kickboxers is a professional ballerina!

By combining sports and the arts, we can only enhance our skills across these very similar disciplines.

From what I have seen, from the teenagers I have met involved in ImagineAction in Northern Ireland (part of the London 2012 Inspire programme) I'm confident it's a fantastic project achieving just that - linking the arts and sports.

The questions after the masterclass were intellectual and forward thinking and I could clearly see the everyone involved, from the teenage participants to the adults who organise it from Beam Creative Network, are very serious about making it work.

Well done to all and I look forward to watching the future progress of ImagineAction!

Olympic programme brings players to a different stage

A group of sporting youths from County Tyrone have been brought from the playing fields to the playhouse as part of a programme run by the charity Legacy Trust UK which aims to create a cultural legacy from the London 2012 Olympics.

The performers were able to showcase their range of talents in a production inspired by television phenomenon, The X-Factor.

Attending the event was a special guest who gave some credibility to these X-Factor parallels.
